Canton fire officials are investigating a Tuesday morning house fire on the city's north side. Crews arrived at 800 North 7th just before 2 a.m. Fire Chief Joe LaCount said a smoke detector woke up a family of three and they got out of the home safely. LaCount said the fire started in a bedroom. He said crews got it under control in about 10 minutes and reported there is moderate smoke damage to the room. LaCount said the family was not displaced and can still stay at the home. The cause is still under investigation.
