When an emergency happens, every second counts. The Richland Fire Department is making sure it can continue to respond quickly. The department has gotten a new fire truck. The fire chief says in the past they’ve only had two engines and would sometimes get three different calls at one time. Calling a neighboring fire department for help would sometimes take 10 minutes for them to get there. The new fire truck eliminates that concern. “We run medical calls, wrecks and fire, and we want to be able to respond in a timely manner to each and every call,” said Chief Brandon Weems. “At the same time, we want to be able to put an elevated water source with this platform that we got.” The fire department hopes to build another fire station in the future and hire more firefighters.
