Jones County volunteer fire departments respond to collision

PHOTO: Jones County volunteer fire departments responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Jeff Byrd Road and Highway 84 East around noon. According to Jones County Fire Council Public Information Officer Dana Bumgardner, M & M, Rustin and Sandersville volunteer fire departments responded to the scene. On arrival, firefighters found a Nissan Maxima and a GMC Envoy with a total of two individuals involved in the incident. Firefighters began rendering emergency aid to the drivers and traffic control. Bumgardner said the Nissan sustained major damage, with the driver being treated and transported to the emergency department by EMServ Ambulance Service. The driver of the GMC declined transport to the emergency department. The GMC appeared to sustain less severe damage, Bumgardner said.
