Thursday afternoon, a training grenade was dropped off at the Goodwill on Highway 49, causing an evacuation of the store.
The Gulfport Fire Department and Gulfport Police were called to the scene around 11:30 a.m. to check it out. At the time, it was unknown if the grenade was real.
Gulfport Fire Chief Billy Kelley says the grenade was found in a load of donations someone recently dropped off.
The building was evacuated and a perimeter was set around the store for safety purposes. After an investigation, it was found that the grenade wasn’t live or real.
