VIDEO: A Hattiesburg firefighter was recognized Thursday night after he helped rescue someone from a burning building. Hattiesburg Fire Department fire engineer Kyle Robinson received the Medal of Merit from the department for his efforts during a call. “I heard someone hollering for help and banging on a boarded-up window,” Robinson said. “So, I went to the back of the truck where we keep our power equipment. I used a chainsaw to cut the window out and to remove him from the building. “I was born and raised here in Hattiesburg and I feel grateful to be able to give back to the community and it is just what we do. We train to do this. Being put in that situation and being able to do it, I am thankful it all went good.”
