VIDEO: A massive four-alarm fire gutted Brentwood Power Equipment Center on Monday night. The fire forced the shutdown of Route 125 for hours, and smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles around. Fire Chief Joseph Bird said the fire was so intense that he would not allow any of his firefighters inside the building. “When I rolled up, I had heavy fire back in the garage area, working its way into the front store area,” Bird said. “And there was no way I was putting anybody in there.” Bird said no one was inside the lawn and outdoor power equipment business and that the owner had just left when he heard an explosion from the repair shop area.
