An unattended candle was the cause of a house fire on North State Street Wednesday, according to Aaron McIntire, the deputy chief of the Concord Fire Department. The fire was reported at just before 9:30 p.m. Firefighters were able to quickly arrive at the scene since the house was only a few blocks away from the North End fire station.
When they arrived, firefighters found smoke billowing from a second-floor bedroom, with heavy damage, and a second alarm was struck.
Mutual aid from Bow was requested to the scene due to an engine and two other ambulances involved in other emergencies, according to McIntire.
"Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the blaze, preventing any further extension into a nearby business," McIntire said.
