New plans to redevelop a fire-ravaged property at the corner of Pleasant and State streets include incorporating an adjacent lot, where Louie’s restaurant was closed by the fire, for use as underground parking.
That’s according to the Planning Department which reported Monday the redevelopment plans will be reviewed during a Wednesday, Jan. 8 Historic District Commission hearing that will be solely focused on potential approval of proposed renovations to the “Times” building and a five-story addition.
The addition is proposed for an area where two buildings were destroyed by the April 10, 2017 fire. A third building, which was once a news office, was heavily damaged and remains standing with more windows in its four stories open to the elements than not.
