The problems at Hampstead Hospital should be brought under control before the new youth development center opens on the same grounds next year, a state senator told News 9.
News 9 Investigates has reported on a series of assaults on staff members in recent weeks.
“Take less of the acuity until they can get a handle on it and deal with that before they start looking at building and adding, a 12- to 18-bed facility that are going to have even more problems,” said Sen. Regina Birdsell, R-Hampstead.
The new youth development center would replace the existing Sununu Youth Services Center in Manchester.
“I think between the two, it’s going to tax our town, and I think I wish more time had been taken into looking at facilities that could better house these kids,” Birdsell added.
Town leaders in Hampstead said they are already worried about unprecedented demands on their first responders.
