A police officer and a firefighter were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after battling a fire at the Upstream Grille restaurant this morning, according to police.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Jefferson Township Police Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the restaurant, located at 161 Route 181 in the north end of Lake Hopatcong, according to Detective Joseph Kratzel.
Officer James Stokes arrived on scene and evacuated the building as Jefferson, Sparta and Picatinny fire departments brought the fire under control, Kratzel said.
The Jefferson Rescue Squad also assisted at the scene.
