A dump truck driver was seriously injured after slamming into and badly damaging a home in South Brunswick early Wednesday, officials said.
It took Kendall Park firefighters and employees of a tow truck company 40 minutes to free the man following the 4:20 a.m. crash on Shelley Road, South Brunswick police said in a statement. He was brought by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The three people in the home were not hurt, though the house is not inhabitable.
The tandem dump truck was traveling east on New Road when it veered off the road.
Officers were still at the house as of 8:30 a.m. investigating.
New Road, links Route 1 and Route 27 in the sprawling township, was closed between Wheeler Road and Constable Road during the investigation, but was reopened shortly before 10 a.m.
