No one was injured but a family was left displaced after a Wednesday night fire on Hawthorne Avenue.
The fire started shortly before 8:30 p.m. and left extensive damage on the third floor, Montclair Fire Chief John Herrmann said.
"When our guys arrived there were flames coming out the left side of the house," Herrmann said. "Our firefighters got in there quick, got it out really fast but it was in the walls."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Herrmann said.
The rest of the house also had water damage.
