Firefighters quickly brought a small fire in the Landis Theater lobby under control on Wednesday. At 10:19 p.m., an alarm alerted the first-responders, who responded to the 82-year-old theater on East Landis Avenue. It appears the fire originated in a small appliance under a counter in the lobby area, Fire Chief Lou Tramontana told The Daily Journal at the scene. Firefighters had the situation under control by 10:48 p.m. and were ventilating the building due to the smoke. Damage appeared to be minimal and the iconic neon marquee continued to glow over the live action drama unfolding below. Vineland Police closed the one block area of the avenue to through traffic due to the firefighting activity, including fire hoses running along the road.
