Firefighters on Saturday responded to a 2-alarm fire that left one resident injured, emergency personnel said.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday evening, firefighters arrived at 2 Island View Ct. where they found fire coming out of several second floor windows.
Firefighters deployed hand lines into the apartment to keep it contained, according to acting fire Chief William Bartos. The fire was declared under control by 6:30 p.m. "Firefighters acted quickly and professionally..." Bartos said. "They were able to extinguish the fire quickly and ensure that numerous occupants of the 18-unit building were safely evacuated."
One woman, who was a resident of the apartment, was injured and transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center where she was treated for smoke inhalation and burns, Bartos said. Her injuries were non-life-threatening.
