One firefighter suffered a minor injury when responding to a fire that heavily damaged a home on Hopping Road in Belford Monday evening, according to Middletown Township Fire Department spokesman Dennis Fowler.
The fire department was sent to the home at 595 Hopping Road at 5:18 p.m. after 911 dispatch received a report of a house on fire with a lot of smoke showing, Fowler said. Third Assistant Chief John Waltz reported heavy smoke in the area and a working structure fire coming out from the front of the structure, Fowler said. The residents had fled the house before firefighters arrived.
Thermal imaging cameras were employed to ensure all fire inside the home was found and extinguished.
The structure sustained heavy fire damage to the first floor and smoke damage throughout the structure, Fowler said.
