A passenger died early Saturday morning when the car she was traveling in ran off a Salem County road, struck several trees and was engulfed in flames, the New Jersey State Police said. Gloria Rodriguez, 58, of Newtonville, was killed in the 2:30 a.m. crash. The state police said a 33-year-old Vineland man was driving a BMW 328 north on Parvins Mill Road/County Road 645 in Pittsgrove Township when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the left side of the roadway near milepost 2.4, a state police spokesman said. The driver was taken to Inspira Medical Center Vineland with moderate injuries. The crash remains under investigation and no charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
