PHOTO: A two-alarm fire in Bayonne left eight city residents displaced on Sunday, fire officials said.
The fire, which took place around 4:30 p.m. at a three-story two-family home on Hobart Avenue, took nearly an hour and a half to control and multiple hand lines from firefighters, the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said in a statement.
All residents inside the home at the time of the fire were able to self-evacuate, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and transported by emergency personnel to a nearby hospital.
“The building is temporarily uninhabitable, leaving eight residents displaced,” Weaver said. “[The residents] are under the care of the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross.”
