South Brunswick Fire District #2 will receive $27,000 from the New Jersey American Rescue Plan Firefighter Grant, according to the state. The District has yet to make a formal decision on how to spend this grant. The American Rescue Plan Firefighter Grant (ARPFFG) is a competitive grant that supports local and regional fire departments by ensuring they have proper fire protection, cleaning, and sanitization equipment. The grant comes from funding the state received under the American Rescue Plan passed by congress last year. The ARPFFG has an appropriated $10 million for New Jersey Fire Departments. South Brunswick Fire District #2 had requested $49,300 to purchase a total of 10 sets of turnout gear, 10 helmets, and 10 nomex hoods, to replace older equipment, according to Fire Chief Scott Smith.
