This morning, the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) was proud to present Station 4-B Shift with a Phoenix Award. The Phoenix Award, which began in January of 2017, is awarded to personnel who have been involved in calls where the patient suffered a cardiac arrest, was resuscitated and returned home from the hospital.
LAFD responders dedicate themselves to the community of Los Alamos and train for cardiac events nearly 10 times as often as an average fire department. Due to their efforts, a member of our community is alive and well and home with their family, “a phoenix rising from the ashes.”
