VIDEO: A crew of young workers building and rehabilitating trails were evacuated from the Pine Lodge area of the Lincoln National Forest Wednesday after a fire was spotted, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service reported Thursday. Laura Rabon, public information officer, said the cause of the wildfire, which had consumed 30 acres, was unknown and was under investigation. The strategy is for full suppression of the flames burning in grass, pinon-juniper and mixed conifer on the Smokey Bear Ranger District, she said. "An Ecoservant trail crew was doing trail work on the Capitan Peak Trail," she said. "They were all safely evacuated. No injuries were reported." However, she received a report that at least one structure and one vehicle have burned in the Pine Lodge Fire. Multiple engines and fire personnel are on scene, Rabon said. Additional resources have been ordered. Powerlines have been turned off because of the proximity of the fire to ensure firefighter safety.
