A man was arrested in connection with a house fire in North Las Vegas last week, according to the North Las Vegas Fire Department. The fire happened on Sunday, Aug. 4 about 9:20 a.m., officials said, in a house on the 2100 block of Bennett Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Losee Road. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of the firefighters' arrival. Officials said Duane Scott lived at the home and started the fire in a pile of clothes after a fight with someone else who lived there. According to Scott's arrest report, a married couple live at the home. He was fighting with the husband through the door before the fight escalated and police said Scott began to throw rocks at the home's windows and a van outside. He told police he lit the clothes on fire with a paper towel he used to light a marijuana blunt, though police said he changed his story multiple times.
