The Reno Fire Department (RFD) is proud to announce that Captain Tom Diani has been appointed as Principal on the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Wildland Fire Fighting Protective Clothing and Equipment (FAE-WFF) Committee. Diani's interest category for this committee is Enforcing Authority.
"This appointment is a big deal in the fire service world," Reno Fire Chief Dave Cochran said. "Captain Diani is the only person from our region to be named a principal member of this committee."
The NFPA is a global nonprofit organization devoted to eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. The NFPA Standards are guidelines used by the fire service nationwide, including the Reno Fire Department.
The FAE-WFF Committee is looking at issues that are of high concern for western United States municipal fire departments, as wildland fires are increasing in the wildland urban interface area.
