PHOTOS: After a 10-hour closure, the I-15 lanes south of Sloan reopened to traffic Tuesday morning around 4 a.m. The southbound lanes were closed due to a fiery crash involving six vehicles that left four people dead and two others injured.
According to Nevada State Police, a woman driving alone in a red Cadillac was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-15 between Sloan and Jean when she collided head-on with a Toyota pickup truck in a southbound lane with three people inside. The Toyota burst into flames killing all three occupants. The woman in the Cadillac was also killed.
The crash was reported around 6 p.m. Monday night.
“There is evidence on scene to believe that alcohol may have played a factor in this crash,” said Trooper Ashlee Wellman.
Nevada State Police say four other vehicles were involved in the crash including a semi-truck that swerved to avoid the crash scene, a pickup truck, a Volvo, and a Kia.
