VIDEO: 911 services have been restored to Southern Nevada after an hours-long outage on Wednesday night.
On Thursday morning, the FCC announced on X that an investigation into the outage is underway after departments in Texas, Nebraska, and South Dakota also reported outages. Services initially dropped out around 6:59 p.m., after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department warned that 911 calls from landlines were not working due to an outage. However, calls from mobile phones were still going through.
“Dial 911 on a mobile device, and we will be able to see your number and will call you back right away,” police said. LVMPD asked that valley residents do not attempt to call 911 to check and to keep the 911 system available for emergencies.
