When the idea first came up, it is unlikely anyone involved predicted this would happen in 2024.
“We knew 24 years ago we needed to do this,” explained Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell.
However long it took to come to fruition, Monday’s groundbreaking for Carson City’s newest fire station and emergency operations center was a big day for Nevada’s state capital.
“You start with an $11 million project and end up with an $18 million project,” Bagwell said. “But we got federal help, and Carson City residents will be the beneficiaries of this new facility.” The new station will be located on Butti Way in East Carson. Fire Chief Sean Slamon says it will be the first new station since the mid-1970s. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer of 2025.
