A family lost their one-story house and attached garage to fire at 8338 Olivesburg-Fitchville Road on Monday. Shiloh-Cass-Bloominggrove Township Fire Chief Jeff Burrer said the initial call came in to the fire department as an attached garage fire and prior to firefighters' arrival the fire had spread to the house and also destroyed a camper parked in the driveway. The fire was reported at 11:46 a.m. Monday. No one was injured and members of the Michael Spoerr family were up and outside, the chief said. The family was able to get a vehicle parked near the fire to safety. "We had about 15 firefighters on the scene. My guys did a great job of getting the fire out," he said. Mutual aid was provided by Tri-County Fire Department of Greenwich and Savannah and Frank township fire departments, Burrer said. The family does have homeowners' insurance and the Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family, he said.
