The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department will have a new fire truck in the next 30-45 days.
Mayor David W. Smith made the announcement that the truck will be delivered within the next month or so at Tuesday’s Village Council meeting. Members of council had authorized the purchase of the 2019 Rosenbauer Mini Pumper in April 2018 prior to the village entering a state of fiscal emergency.
“We’ve also got to get the financial planning supervision commission to approve the encumbrance of debt, supposedly, even though this was approved prior to such declaration of emergency, but I’ve been working with local banks to try and get the best possible financing,” Smith said.
Solicitor Michael J. Shaheen said he also had spoken with the bank regarding the financing for the truck.
