Firefighters and police officers topped the list of highest earners in the city of Marion last year, with some making more than the top brass when overtime was factored in.
Those who earned more than six figures last year included police lieutenants, police majors, fire platoon chiefs and their bosses. Some logged more than 400 hours in overtime for the year.
Data provided to The Star shows pay periods ranging from Dec. 24, 2017, through Dec. 22, 2018.
At the top of the list of 301 city employees was Marion Police Chief Bill Collins, who earned a total of $121,365.04 and had the highest annual salary of $115,008.40, according to a records request by The Star.
The additional money beyond his salary comes from a combination of holiday pay and sick leave that he had accumulated, according to a breakdown of his total earnings.
