A cadet for Bascom Joint Fire District was extricated from his truck by his fellow crew members after a rollover accident on CR 48 in Hopewell Township on Wednesday night. Hunter Pachlhofer 22, of Fostoria, was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota east, drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected and lost control, according to a release from the Norwalk post of State Highway Patrol. The truck slid sideways into a farm field and overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof, the release states. Garry Ruble, training officer for Bascom Joint Fire District, said firefighters used hydraulic tools and removed the driver’s door of the truck. Crew members were able to slide Pachlhofer out on a back board, he said.
