Troy Township was dispatched to a fire around 8 a.m. Tuesday at Stoneridge Control Devices, 345 S. Mill St. after employees were evacuated from the plant.
The Lexington plant, formerly known as Hi-Stat, makes sensors and switches for automobiles.
Troy Township Firefighter Heather Shelton said a lubricant material in a combustible container used to heat metal parts was sitting on a piece of equipment under pressure and it caught fire and the container ruptured. Employees put the fire out before firefighters arrived, she said.
There was smoke throughout the building, Shelton said. The fire was reported to the township fire department at 8:01 a.m.
There were no injuries, Shelton said.
