PHOTOS: A fire in Pomeroy, Ohio caused a structure to collapse on a neighboring residential building Saturday morning as first responders rushed to put out the fire.
Crews from Pomeroy, Rutland and Middleport responded to the fire that burned a two-story building along Mechanic Street. As the building burned, it collapsed onto a residential building, causing the fire to spread, according to a social media post from Pomeroy Fire Department.
The post said first responders were able to contain the fire just within an hour and a half after arriving on scene. A neighbor of the residential building alerted tenants, allowing them to escape.
No injuries were reported and crews remained on scene to clean up debris.
Firefighters said the American Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents.
State fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
