City fire investigators were investigating the cause of a house fire on the East Side Tuesday.
Crews were called at about 11:10 a.m. to a home on the 2000 block of McGuffey Road. Crews found heavy smoke coming from a second-floor room.
No one was injured, but investigators said that the home was occupied. Five children and their parents were in the home when the fire started, but they got out safely.
Battalion Chief Dave Cook said the father was in the garage when he spotted flames and got everyone out of the house. The children are all under 8 years old, Cook said.
A damage estimate is not yet available, but the upstairs of the home sustained extensive damage.
