VIDEO: The Johnsville Fire Department is reporting the deaths of dozens of dogs after what they describe as a "puppy mill" went up in flames on Wednesday. The fire was at a building on Chesterville-Shelby Road, near the intersection of that same road and Mount Gilead-Fredericktown Road. Chief Harlan Barrick tells WSYX that the fire took 40 minutes to control, and during that time one puppy was rescued by firefighters. Around 17 other dogs were able to be freed by the owner from the burning building before firefighters arrived. Unfortunately, the fire department reports that around 70 dogs died as a result of the fire. The Johnsville Fire Department says that the fire somehow started from the wood burning stove that was in the middle of the building.
