PHOTOS: A large fire reportedly caused by spontaneous combustion was broke out at Kurtz Bros., Inc., near the I-480 Valley View Bridge early Tuesday morning.
At about 5:30 a.m., a FOX 8 camera showed massive flames and billowing smoke.
FOX 8 crews on the scene reported the fire was coming from burning mulch. Those in the area reported a strong odor in the air.
About an hour later, around 6:30 a.m., fire crews appeared to have the fire under control.
A release issued by Kurtz Bros., Inc., said the fire was due to a spontaneous combustion situation with its raw wood products at the production facility on Canal Road.
