Klamath County Fire Districts 1 and 4 responded to a house fire in the 4600 block of Douglas Avenue in the Stewart Lenox neighborhood on Thursday shortly after 1:10 p.m. No injuries were reported in the fire though the owner of the home, Jeff Rodgers, believes the family’s ferret, Carlos, died in the fire. The fire appears to have started inside the home, but the cause is unknown as of press time and under investigation, fire officials said. No structures in the vicinity of the house were damaged. Rodgers, 54, was in the house at the time with his daughter and several grandchildren. “I don’t know if it was the extension cord … or if it was the Xbox or what,” Rodgers said, as to the start of the fire, while standing outside the home. Rodgers said he first saw flames in the corner of the living room where the Xbox was located.
