Firefighters confirm one home has been lost to a wildfire burning east of Cottage Grove. Lane County issued a Level 1 Get Ready evacuation notice Friday evening. That notice was later canceled. Evacuation notices work on a continuum from Level 1 to Level 2 Get Set to Level 3 GO! Downs Road remains closed to all traffic as of 9:30 p.m. Police in Cottage Grove asked people to not call 911 to report the fire in order to keep the line open for other emergencies. The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire started at 4:30 p.m. By 8 p.m., the fire had burned about 60 acres. Oregon Department of Forestry at that time estimated containment at 10 percent. Crews have put a line around much of the fire and are using the Row River Trail to help with containment. Some 150 firefighters were on scene, both wildland and structural.
