Police are investigating an assault and arson that damaged a garage in Northeast Portland on Thanksgiving. A man and woman were hospitalized. Their names were not immediately released. According to police, at 8:39 p.m. on Nov. 28, East Precinct officers responded to a report of an assault in the 800 block of Northeast 68th Avenue. An adult male was reportedly struck with an object by an adult female and sustained an injury. After officers arrived at the scene, they encountered the female in the garage. The officers also detected smoke and called for Portland Fire & Rescue to assist in putting out a fire in the garage. Officers arrested the female. She was taken to an area hospital to be treated for an unrelated medical issue. Fire crews arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.
