Portland Fire & Rescue is canceling its annual Santa Safety events out of an "abundance of caution" for COVID, the flu, and RSV cases. PF&R stated that they are following recent recommendations announced by Multnomah County Health Officials due to the "unprecedented number of dangerous RSV cases impacting young children in our community." The Santa's Safety event is held annually at the historic Belmont Firehouse, and lets children take photos of Santa Claus and learn how to avoid fire hazards. It serves as a fundraiser for PF&R. PF&R crews said they hoped to return to the holiday tradition next year
