PHOTOS: A rare dust devil-like wind event caused damage to a building in McMinnville on Tuesday afternoon. The Portland National Weather Service started to investigate the damage report Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday’s images from the McMinnville Fire District show the roof damage done to the Meggitt building located at 2010 NE Lafayette Ave. The KOIN 6 Weather Team received concerns about storm damage in McMinnville Tuesday afternoon as heavy rain showers moved through the Willamette Valley. After further investigation and communication with the National Weather Service, very little observations of the event were recorded on camera or radar. At the time of the damage, the Portland radar did indicate some small and brief winds indicated by the velocity product.
