VIDEO: A man is accused of setting his own home east of Bend on fire Tuesday night before blocking the driveway to keep firefighters away. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said David Sheridan, 45, is facing possible charges of arson, reckless burning, criminal mischief and obstruction. DCSO said deputies responded to the fire at about 5:30 p.m. in the 25800 block of Alfalfa Market Road. Sheridan allegedly called 911 to report he had set the house on fire. The house sat at the end of a long driveway with fencing on either side, making access difficult, DCSO said. Deputies arrived to allegedly find a Toyota Tacoma pickup, turned on its side, blocking access. Deputies allegedly also saw Sheridan driving a skidsteer and putting it next to the pickup, making it even harder to reach the house.
