VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) was alerted by a neighbor smelling burning plastic, and crews were able to put out a structure fire in Springfield early Friday morning.
On March 22, ESF responded to a structure fire on L Street, after being contacted by a resident in the neighborhood who had smelled plastic burning.
The neighbor investigated and noticed smoke pouring out of a garage.
When fire crews arrived they found a detached garage on fire that was being used as a dwelling.
ESF tells us that the fire attack was slowed by the amount of belongings within the space, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire extending to the home. Crews were able to use a chainsaw to enter the roof of the shed.
