VIDEO: An Asian market in the Madison South neighborhood was destroyed by a three-alarm fire early Tuesday morning. Just before 2 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at the Pacific Market complex in the 6700 block of Northeast Broadway. First crews on scene found smoke coming from the roof of the building over the top of a closed restaurant space with boarded up windows. PF&R says crews had trouble finding the source of the fire due to thick smoke. A second alarm was called to bring in additional resources. Twenty minutes into the incident, crews were pulled away from the building due to the concern there may be a wall collapse. By 3 a.m., the entire building had been filled with smoke and flames. PF&R says 20-foot flames could be seen coming from the roof and were close to nearby homes.
