Less than a month after being appointed, the fire chief of Wyoming Borough has resigned.
Thomas Skilonger, of Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1, submitted his resignation recently, according to Councilman Michael Baloga.
“We did get a letter from the mayor that the fire chief resigned. That’s the only thing we heard,” Baloga said.
Council voted to appoint Skilonger at its Jan. 14 meeting.
In recent weeks, several people contacted The Citizens’ Voice to allege Skilonger made inappropriate comments on fire call scenes and online.
Mayor Joseph Dominick last week vowed to look into the allegations.
“After our conversation, I followed up with the President of Hose Co #1. He confirmed an incident occurred about six months ago but could not comment further as it was a personnel matter,” Dominick said in a subsequent email. “I have requested the president contact the fire chief and both attend our next council executive session to address the allegations."
