Western Berks Fire Department, along with EMS, extinguished a house fire and helped save a dog's life early Sunday morning. At around 12:40 a.m. the Western Berks Fire Department and their aid partners were dispatched to the 100 Block of Cacoosing Ave in Sinking Spring Borough for a residential structure fire. The first crews that arrived on the scene reported smoke showing from both the front and rear of a three-story twin home. Fire was found in the kitchen area on the first floor and was quickly extinguished, limiting damage to the building of origin with negative extension into the adjoining residence. Officials report, while conducting searches, crews located one dog on the second floor that was unconscious. The dog was quickly removed and placed in the care of paramedics from Western Berks EMS.
