The 911th Airlift Wing will fly over hospitals in western Pennsylvania on Memorial Day to honor first responders and health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The C-17 Globemaster III flyovers will take place over Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler VA Hospital, Heritage Valley Beaver, Ohio Valley General (Kennedy), Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (Kittanning), Allegheny General Canonsburg, Allegheny General Hospital Washington and Washington Hospital, a news release said. Officials said there will also be a low approach to Pittsburgh International Airport and the Aspinwall area. The flyovers are part of the Air Force Salutes program, a nationwide effort to show appreciation for all those supporting COVID-19 response efforts. Officials said they come at no additional cost to taxpayers.
