After a few months of training and assembling equipment, Shohola Fire & Rescue (Station 41) placed their 41-1 ladder truck into service on April 6.
Chief Jeffrey DeGroat said that this is their first ladder truck.
The apparatus is a 2009 Rosenbauer/Spartan Gladiator Evolution, carrying 400 gallons of water and a 75 foot, rear mounted ladder. It has a 1500 gem pump and a CAFS foam system.
The Chief said that the truck, which cost $225,000, is being paid for with fundraising.
Members took an aerial operators course to be able to use the ladder truck. Members also will be taking a truck operations class and a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) class.
The volunteer fire department’s fleet also consists of a 2006 Pierce Arrow XT rescue truck; a 2014 Spartan/Ford F-550 engine; 2015 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 support vehicle; a 2005 Pierce tanker; a 2020 Kawaski UTV, Mule 4x4; a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 Car 1 QRU and a 2012 Ford Expedition 4x4 Car 2 QRU. The UTV is used for environmental rescues, searches and brush fires.
