Update: Wattsburg Hose Company Mourns Loss of Longtime Fire Chief; Calling Hours Friday, Funeral Mass Saturday

Longtime Wattsburg Hose Company fire chief Norman Martin has passed away at age 57 after a 10-month battle with cancer, the fire department announced Monday. Martin graduated from Union City High School and joined the U.S. Army Reserves then the U.S. Navy Reserves. He worked for Emergycare as a paramedic for 33 years, retiring when cancer prevented him from working. Martin served as fire chief of Wattsburg Hose since 1997. He was also a member of the Union City Fire Department Scuba Rescue Team for more than 30 years and served as a deputy coroner for five years. Calling hours are Friday, and the funeral mass is set for Saturday. The funeral will be followed by last call and full military honors at Wattsburg Hose Company.
