During Women's History Month, a firefighter in Pittsburgh is making her own type of history by becoming the highest-ranking female in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. Kari Burnham said, "This is something I love to do. It's like a dream come true." Burnham's passion is being a firefighter. Now she takes the title of lieutenant, which is an accomplishment that puts her in the history books as the highest-ranking woman in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. "It's kind of crazy for me. I'll probably go home and think what just happened," said Burnham. Pittsburgh fire Chief Darryl Jones said the bureau currently has five female firefighters. He said the last time a woman was promoted to lieutenant was 1995 and that's been too long of a wait. Jones said, "It is way overdue and to be quite frank with you an embarrassment that it's taken 25 years to do this."
