A massive cleanup project for dozens of homeowners in Westmoreland County is underway after Friday's flash floods left homes and businesses in ruins.
Collections to help out have begun at the Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Department in Latrobe.
On Sunday, firefighters collected at least a dozen truckloads of supplies and will continue to accept supplies and monetary donations for two more days.
Lt. David Vogel said the effort was sparked by the needs of one specific neighborhood in Unity Twp.
“We had a whole neighborhood that was completely underwater, approximately 42 houses that we had to evacuate from their area. Each of those houses have water affected to them, so this was started to benefit everywhere in the township, but it was mostly started because of the neighborhood in our area,” Lt. Vogel said.
