A fire at a closed Greenburg laundromat late Thursday night damaged a dryer and spread smoke throughout the building.
The fire at Nu-Way laundromat on Highland Avenue, which was reported at 11 p.m., caused an unknown amount of damage, said Tamara Zimmers, owner of the laundromat, which is adjacent to the Greensburg Shopping Center.
The door to one of the dryers was extensively damaged and firefighters pulled boards from the wall above the dryer to determine the source of the smoke.
Firefighters also searched the roof to see if any fire had spread to that area.
The laundromat had closed at 7 p.m., but she received a notification from a security company at 10:50 p.m. that there was smoke in the building. She said she could not see much of the interior of the laundromat because of the smoke was so thick.
